Foundation gives schools a chance to compete
For the second consecutive year, several elementary and high schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago have found help for their athletic and physical education programs from the Jordan Family Sports Foundation.
The foundation was formed in May 2008 and donates new sports equipment to schools — everything from team uniforms to fold-up lunch tables that allow St. Matthias/Transfiguration School to use its cafeteria for gym classes. Some monetary grants also are available to pay stipends and league fees.
“Sports are important to the way people look at schools,” said William Booth of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Office of Stewardship and Development.
Last year, eight schools benefitted. This year, 15 schools are benefitting. They are: St. Gregory the Great High School; St. Francis de Sales High School; Holy Trinity Academy; Josephinum Academy; St. Ann School; Our Lady of Tepeyac; Hales Franciscan High School; St. Agnes of Bohemia School; Our Lady of Guadalupe School; St. Matthias/Transfiguration School; St. John Vianney School, Northlake; St. Monica School; Our Lady of Victory School; and Seton Academy, South Holland.
