    Former White House legal advisor captivates capacity crowd at MEF breakfast talk

    Michael Scudder, Jr., Midtown Education Foundation Board Member and former General Counsel of the National Security Council under George W. Bush, captivated a capacity crowd at his Skadden Arps breakfast presentation on March 30. Scudder pulled back the curtain to reveal happenings in the Oval Office during a tenuous time in American history.

    Just sending this for Nazareth

    In celebration of the Feast of St. Joseph on March 19, Nazareth Academy welcomed sisters and associates from the Congregation of St. Joseph as guest lecturers in a variety of classrooms on March 20-21. Sisters taught in the religion, English, fine arts and world languages.

    Des Plaines Knights present to local charities

    The Knights of Columbus of Des Plaines Council #3627 presented checks to four local charities from our 2016 Disabilities Drive (Tootsie Roll). Special Olympics founded in 1962 is the worlds largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. SPRED Special Religous Education was established as a program to work with disabled adults in the Catholic Church (receiving were St Zachary and St Mary's Parishes). Special Gifts Theater founded in 2000, offer 'Musicial Theater', and 'Creativity in Motion' and other programs for children and adults with special needs.

    National Religious Vocation Conference announces new executive director

    Chicago –The National Religious Vocation Conference (NRVC) announced Sister Sharon Dillon, S.S.J-T.O.S.F. as its new executive director, effective June 1. Dillon succeeds Brother Paul Bednarczyk, C.S.C. who became vicar general of his community last September after serving at NRVC for 14 years.

    Darst Center Honors Sister Joy Clough RSM

    Mercy Sister Joy Clough, RSM, was honored March 4, by the Br. David Darst Center at the organization’s annual fund-raiser: A Night at the Races. A long-time member of the Darst Center board of directors, Sister Joy served as the board’s president from 2009 to 2016 as the Center expanded its programs, participants and partner agencies.

    Prince of Peace Teacher Selected as Golden Apple Award Finalist

    Prince of Peace Catholic School, a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon school, announces that 7th grade teacher and junior high math and science teacher Tyra Stall has been has been chosen as a finalist for the 2017 Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching. Mrs. Stall is one of 33 finalists throughout the Chicagoland area. This is the second Golden Apple nomination Prince of Peace School has received.

    Caring Hearts' Club

    Junior high students in St. George School Caring Hearts' Club in Tinley Park wrote letters of support and encouragement to seminarians in the Chicago Archdiocese. The students prayed for the seminarians and discussed the important role priests play in their lives. Pictured are just a few of the students and a sampling of their letters.
