    On April 30, 22 Sisters of Mercy celebrated their 50, 60, 70, or 75-year Jubilee with a celebration at Mercy Circle. Joining them were their families and other Sisters from the West Midwest Community.

    DePaul University President, Global Peace Negotiator Honored by Catholic Theological Union

    Catholic Theological Union (CTU) honored DePaul University President Rev. Dennis Holtschneider, CM, with its Diakonia award and peace negotiator Monica McWilliams with the Blessed are the Peacemakers award on April 26 at the Hilton Chicago. Each year, CTU presents its Diakonia service award to a distinguished Chicagoan whose service has made a positive and important contribution to the common good of Chicago and the nation.

    Holy Family Catholic Academy’s nationally certified outdoor classroom makes every day a day to celebrate the great outdoors. This week, the Inverness school’s Earth Day project provided a perfect backdrop to remind the almost 500 students in preschool through grade 8 that we are all called to be stewards of God’s creation.

    Holy Cross Lenten Project raises over $35,000

    Parishioners at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Deerfield raised over $35,000 for their Lenten Project “Rain Down Blessings 2017.” The project will fund clean water and sanitation initiatives of the nonprofit organization Concern Worldwide U.S. in two impoverished areas of Bangladesh.

    Volunteers Bring Easter Celebration to Homebound Elders

    What’s better than an Easter basket filled with treats to remind Chicago’s lonely and isolated seniors they are not forgotten? A home-delivered meal and visit from a friendly volunteer. On Easter Sunday, Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly’s volunteers and staff brought all three to elders who are homebound or living in nursing homes.

    What’s the Buzz? St. Patricia Junior Honor Society St. Jude Collection!

    St. Patricia School Junior Honor Society organized a school fund drive service project which raised over $1,660 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The class that raised the most per student got a special prize for their support, and the sixth-grade Mrs. Bartley-Bogard had to dress up like a bee and “buzz” around the school to spread the good news they had won.

    St. Patricia Annual Easter Bunny Visit

    St. Patricia Parish and School Families enjoyed the Annual Easter Bunny Visit on April 2. The Easter Bunny brought Easter smores treats with little Bunny Peeps, enjoyed snuggle time with the children and joined in the Easter Egg Hunt. Children searched through “Bunnyland” to find prize eggs filled with toys and treats while their family looked on enjoying a pancake breakfast. St. Patricia School students wished everyone a Happy Easter & a Happy Spring!

    Communities & Relatives of Illinois Incarcerated Children to receive Kinship Award from Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation

    Communities & Relatives of Illinois Incarcerated Children (CRIIC) is the recipient of the 2017 Kinship Award from the Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation (PBMR). The Kinship Award recognizes community contributions and social justice efforts that have strengthened the ministry’s mission of providing hope, healing and hospitality to at-risk youth, and the families of those who have lost loved ones through violence or incarceration. CRIIC will receive the Kinship Award on April 26, at PBMR’s annual gala, taking place at Chez, 247 E. Ontario St., from 6 to 9 p.m.
