    Scouting Foundation Awards Scholarships

    On June 10, the third annual Sandra Meinholz Spirit of Scouting Foundation Scholarship was awarded to Andrew Stencel and Alexander Wziontka both with Scout Troop 140 at the Court of Honor Ceremony. Each scout received a $500 scholarship that is placed in a personal account to be used toward their advancement in scouting. Boy Scout Troop 140 is located in Buffalo Grove and chartered through Saint Mary Parish.

    100% college acceptance for Holy Trinity

This accomplished group has been accepted to 96 different colleges and universities across the country, where they have earned over $4 million in college scholarships.     Art of Caring Raises over $265,000 for Catholic Charities Programs in Lake County

    More than 200 guests attended the 24th Annual Art of Caring - Changing Lives with Hope fundraiser on May 18 at Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park.The benefit supports Catholic Charities services in Lake County. The event was hosted by the Women’s Board of Catholic Charities of Lake County, headed by President Debby Lambert of Lake Forest along with Honorary Chair Couple Mr. and Mrs. Quinn Stepan of Lake Bluff, and Monsignor Michael Boland, administrator, president and CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

    Taize Prayer Service Brings Many to St. Mary Riverside Despite Dangerous Flood

    It began as part of the Transformation Process at St. Mary Parish in Riverside, the idea that parishioners might open themselves to different aspects of prayer and ecumenism. St. Mary Pastor Thomas May spoke of exploring “the possibility of Taize Prayer as a means of gathering together all of our sisters and brothers.” The goal was to experience a new respect and deeper understanding of others.     Father Perez Knights Honored

    Father Perez Knights of Columbus Council #1444 recently received recognition for its efforts toward the less fortunate in the community. Illinois Knights of Columbus Executive Secretary Dennis Shook presented the council with a plaque from the Supreme Council recognizing its overwhelming support of the KC food drive – 40 cans for 40 days as part of its Food for Families Program. The council collected more than 1,000 pounds of canned goods that were given to St. Christina Parish food pantry.

    Blessing of the Motorcycles at St. Christina

    Mount Greenwood, Chicago, Illinois –Father Perez Knights of Columbus Council 1444 members Father Lawrence Sullivan, the pastor of St. Christina Parish, and Deacon Stan Rakauskas conducted a blessing of the motorcycles after the 11:30 AM mass on May 26 on the plaza in front of the church. This was the third annual blessing event.

    Cardinal George and Knights Celebrate Memorial Day Mass

    Four Father Perez Knights of Columbus Council #1444 members helped the community honor its fallen war veterans and all those whose bodies rest in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery’s consecrated ground by participating in the field mass there with Francis Cardinal George on Memorial Day.
