The Archdiocese of Chicago's Office of Radio and Television produced this video of the image removal using the photos of Chicago Catholic photo editor Karen Callaway. On Dec. 11, 2020 the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is temporarily removed from the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines by clergy, staff, and volunteers. The image of the Virgin will be returned on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 a.m. during a morning prayer service. The previous week, The Shrine and The Archdiocese of Chicago asked pilgrims to celebrate this feast day safely in their homes because of the ongoing pandemic.
